Short Visits Grants
Short Visit Exchange Grants (< 15 days)
Proposals should be broadly related to the scientific objectives of the Programme. Short Visits may serve for planning collaborative research projects, brief data gathering or data analysis.
Similar calls are planned to occur repeatedly over the next 5 years. We advise applicants to contact potential labs of interest early to jointly prepare the application. Grant applications will be chosen by the Steering Committee based on scientific quality, and priority will be given to applicants who come from or intend to visit countries supporting the programme (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland), but other European nations can be involved.
Eligibility
a) Undertake work of high scientific quality which is applicable to ThermAdapt
b) Apply to staying a European country other than the country of origin
c) Return to the institute of origin upon termination, so that the applicant’s institute may also benefit from the broadened knowledge of the scientist (a statement on the "added value" for the institute of origin should be included in the application)
d) Acknowledge ESF in publications resulting from the grantee’s work in relation to the Short Visit or Exchange Grant
Priority will be given to applicants who come from and intend to visit countries that financially support the Programme (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland).
Repeated visits of the same person to the same foreign laboratory will not be funded.
Application Procedure
Applications for Short Visit should be submitted online.
Short Visit Grant Applications should include the following information:
- A short description of the proposed project work (about 250 words) with a clear statement on the aim an added value of the visit (going beyond that of a typical collaborative project)
- A Curriculum Vitae of two A4 pages
- A letter of acceptance from the host(s) at the receiving institute
- Full address details of the prospective host(s)
- Proposed starting date
- Estimated travel costs

Allowance
Short Visit Grants are reimbursed on a per diem basis of 85 EUR plus actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR.
Reporting
Please note that if your application is awarded, you are expected to provide a report which will be published on the ThermAdapt Web page.
It should include the following information:
- Name and affiliation of applicant (ideally printed on University letterhead)
- Project title
- Name of host and host institute
- Brief statement on goals of visit, followed by a report on the work done.
- At the end provide a list of planned publications resulting from the visit together with planned further collaboration.
