A New Emblem for a Modern European Science Foundation

The pan-European organisation devoted to the promotion and support of scientific research, the European Science Foundation (ESF), will shortly reveal its new visual identity.

The innovative look of the new logo will reflect the institution’s values and objective to enhance its visibility in a global context, and add a recognisable identity.

“I am delighted to unveil the new ESF logo. It is part of our mission to be more visible and identifiable.” said Bertil Andersson, ESF Chief Executive, who will launch the new logo on 18 July 2006, during the ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) in Münich, Germany.

“We do work with a large number of scientists from all over Europe; we aim at acting as a unique interface with the European scientific community, and such a renewed and progressive symbol will improve our exposure.”

Multidisciplinary, Flexible, Independent, Rigorous and Open are shared values at the ESF encapsulated by the new visual emblem which embodies the way ESF brings scientists from Europe and the rest of the world together.

The roundness of the characters synergistically anchored to the horizontal line below represents the accuracy of ESF, the way it is structured, the way it operates and the values it promotes. The contemporary treatment of the type reflects a very progressive impression.

The new design will be used on all communications, from brochures, materials, publications, instruments and activities, to ESF identity on the Internet and on printed media.
