Neuroscience conferences: the fruit of the partnership between ESF and FENS

The European Science Foundation (ESF) and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) have agreed to jointly develop a series of groundbreaking conferences on Neurobiology, with no equivalent in Europe.

ESF and FENS will work together to explore new directions for research and search for new inspiring ideas in the fast-moving world of neuroscience. Thanks to this collaboration, Europe will gain a platform for neuroscientists from all over the world to share their knowledge and expertise on important topics such as Brain, Dynamic Networks, Molecular Neurobiology, Neurogenomics and Cognition. The purposes are to advance research and to further develop the competitiveness of European Neuroscience. The conferences will focus on different levels of dynamic organization, from function at the gene, molecular and subcellular levels to integrative action at the systems level, including learning and memory, action, perception, decision making and emotion.

The first conference of the series will take place on 11th-14th November 2012 in Stresa, Italy, on the topic of “The Neurobiology of Emotion”. It will be co-chaired by the world-renowned neurobiologist David Anderson, from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and Ray Dolan, acclaimed Professor of Neuropsychiatry at the University College of London.
