The ESF Standing Committee for Physical & Engineering Sciences (PEN (formerly PESC)) was saddened by the news that Professor Zsolt Kajcsos, passed away on 27 July 2011.
Professor Kajcsos had been a member of the PEN (formerly PESC) Standing Committee since 2008 and substantially contributed to major ESF initiatives such as the European Young Investigator Awards (EURYI) scheme or the Member Organisation Forum on Research Careers. He was also involved in the COST Domain Committee for Materials, Physics and Nano sciences.
He was working at the KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics, Budapest, and his demise was completely unexpected.
Professor Kajcsos' foresight and inspired thinking will be missed tremendously within the academic and scientific community and particularly by his fellow members in the PEN (formerly PESC) Standing Committee.
