multiple zeta values; polylogarithms; periods and motives; Hopf algebras; quantum field theory
Multiple zeta values form a subset of the real numbers with remarkable families of polynomial identities (with rational coefficients) between them. They stand at the intersection of several mathematical areas: algebra, combinatorics, algebraic geometry (via Grothendieck's motives), Lie group theory, number theory. Moreover, they have strong links with high-energy physics (quantum field theory). By inviting leading experts the present exploratory workshop aims at bringing all these different approaches together in order to shed new light on the whole. Future collaboration and joint papers between participants are expected to follow. A trimester on the subject is planned at ICMAT in 2014.
