Activities in 2013
A last Steering Committee meeting took place on 30-31 October 2013 in Vienna (AT) and was dedicated to the discussion of future topics for Horizon 2020, possibilities for integrated European research, and how to implement a European PhD training network. Since participation of the private sector is essential for all of these programs, representatives of the Alliance for Advanced Therapies participated into this meeting.

The Research Networking Programme REMEDIC was presented in a dedicated booth and the RNP Steering Committee Chair, Prof. Yrjö T. Konttinen, gave a presentation on “Skylla and Kharybdis: stem cell researchers squeezed between advancement of science and self promotion?”.
MED (formerly EMRC) was also invited to attend the FEAM national delegates’ business meeting where the Head of Unit, Dr. Stephane Berghmans, had the opportunity to make a presentation on ESF-MED (formerly EMRC) activities and discuss future synergies on the Clinical Trials Directive.
