Research Europe: Research Media announces ESF events partnership

Research Media Ltd is a supporter of European Science Foundation (ESF) conferences in 2012.

As such, Research Media Ltd will be providing coverage of the events in its flagship International Innovation publication, detailing the key issues, objectives and outcomes, as well as featuring interviews with prominent members of the ESF. Furthermore, complimentary copies of International Innovation will be available at the events.

UNT: Robert Frodeman invited to speak to European Science Foundation representatives

CSID Director Robert Frodeman & Assistant Director J. Britt Holbrook will visit colleagues at the UK Research Council & the European Science Foundation. Prof. Frodeman will give an invited talk at an ESF International Workshop on Peer Review to take place in Brussels on 6 December: 'Peer Review and the Public Accountability of Science.'

A Q+A session on global careers. “Rather than asking where should you go, think about who you should join, says Beate Scholz, a consultant on research careers who advises the European Science Foundation among other bodies. Ask where you will learn most, and which lab will set you up with good connections for the next stage of your career. "These are primary criteria. The secondary criteria will be things such as how easy it will be to immerse yourself in the culture and whether there is a language barrier."

The EUROCORES (European Collaborative Research) Scheme is a unique framework offered by the ESF to promote collaborative research, networking and dissemination while targeting broad and complex topics of research across all scientific domains at the European level and in a global context. EUROCORES enables researchers to work in joint research projects with colleagues in other European countries and beyond, whilst the funding remains national.

Bio Physics: Science Europe Holds Founding Assembly

Science Europe replaces EuroHORCs, a representative body for scientific research interests at an international level. In May, a proposed merger of the European Science Foundation (ESF) and EuroHORCs narrowly failed to pass an ESF vote. The ESF plans to responsibly shut down in the upcoming years, leaving Science Europe as the primary voice for scientific research in European policy-making.
