Hotel Eden Roc, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain
The conference will take place in Sant Feliu de Guixols, on the Spanish Costa Brava, 120 km north of Barcelona and 30 km south of Girona. Group transportation will be arranged from/to Barcelona airport, on arrival and departure days.
Within the eukaryotic genomes lies the history of the origin of many important biological processes found in this evolutionary group. It is now clear that the comparisons of genomes of numerous phylogenetically related species is the basic strategy to unravel the history of genomes. Yeasts and fungi with their compact and small-sized genomes are highly valuable model systems to approach the history of genome evolution. Moreover, inter-kingdom genome comparisons open the way to novel and exciting discoveries given the recent publications of numerous eukaryotic genomes (Paramecium, Trypanosoma, Tetrahymena, Diatoms, Algae, etc). The goal of this symposium is to offer a unique opportunity to exchange novel methods or ideas in the global field of comparative genomics, to discuss direct applications in the field of fungal infections and biomedical research and to offer an excellent educational platform for young scientists.
The symposium will address the following topics:
Oral conferences as well as poster sessions will provide ample opportunity for formal and informal exchange between participants on these different topics.
