Extended Application Deadline for the Conference on Images and Visualisation

The European Science Foundation (ESF) is pleased to announce an extension to the original deadline for submission of applications for the forthcoming research conference “Images and Visualisation: Imaging Technology, Truth and Trust”.

Applications are now welcome until the June 17th 2012. This conference will take place on the 17th to 21st September 2012 in Norrköping, Sweden.

The conference is organised by the European Science Foundation (ESF) in partnership with the Linköping University, and is sponsored by the School of Sociology and Social Policy and the Science and Technology Studies Priority Research Group of the University of Nottingham.

The aim of this conference is to bring together experts from across the natural and social sciences, with curators, artists, producers and users of images based on advanced visual engineering. The conference will explore and review the construction, circulation and interpretation of images from across the sciences with a specific interest in articulating common issues and differences across the scales of representation. The conference will offer an interesting and intensive programme of renowned international speakers, short paper and poster presentations as well as panel discussion. Various topics will be addressed, starting from the existing interactions between art and science and the role of visualisation in science and society.

The conference will give the opportunity to discuss future directions in visualisation research, together with leading experts of the field.
Some funding is available and this may cover costs of the conference and/or travel fees for accepted proposals.

The deadline for applications is 17th June 2012. To apply to this event please complete the online application form here.
