The conference will be held at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge in the UK. It is a national and international visitor research institute which runs research programmes on selected themes in mathematics and the mathematical sciences with applications over a wide range of science and technology. It attracts leading mathematical scientists from the UK and overseas to interact in research over an extended period.
Cambridge is a city in Central England, located approximately 50 miles (80 km) north of London. It is a compact cosmopolitan city with outstanding architecture old and new. The beauty of its ancient centre is preserved with its walkable medieval streets, college courts, gardens and bridges.

Reaching the Venue |
By Air
The nearest airports are London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted and London Luton. London Stansted is the most convenient in terms of location and amenities. There are regular flights from Paris, Amsterdam and a number of other European destinations, but intercontinental services are limited at present, though there are connections to destinations worldwide through KLM UK (via Amsterdam).
Via London Gatwick: National Express run regular services from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge and vice versa, service numbers are JL717, JL787 and JL797, where the journey will take approximately 4 hours. There is a direct rail link to London Victoria Station and from there you can either proceed by coach, from Victoria Coach Station, or by rail, by taking the underground (Victoria line) to King's Cross or Liverpool Street (change from Victoria line to Central line at Oxford Circus). By road, follow the signs to the M23 north towards London, leaving by exit 7, turning right to follow the M25 east anti-clockwise around London, crossing the Thames at Dartford (where there is toll charge of £1). Leave the M25 at exit 27, north onto the M11 towards Cambridge (see by road from London). The journey takes about 2 hours.
Via London Heathrow: Frequent coaches run to and from London Heathrow to Cambridge with National Express, the service numbers are JL717, JL787 and JL797, taking approximately 2 hours 20 minutes. You need to go to London Heathrow Central Bus Station (for Terminals 1, 2 and 3) or outside Arrivals at Terminal 4 to pick up the coach. To travel by train, take the underground (Piccadilly line) to either King's Cross (direct line) or Liverpool Street (change to Central line at Holborn). The underground service is quite frequent and takes about an hour to the central London railway stations. By road, follow signs to the M25 and turn onto it in the direction of Watford, leaving it by exit 27 onto the M11 going north to Cambridge. The journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.
Via London Stansted: National Express run coaches to and from London Stansted with service numbers JL717 and JL797, taking about 50 minutes. There is a direct train service to Cambridge hourly that takes approximately 30 minutes. The cost of a taxi to Cambridge is approximately £41. The distance to drive is about 25 miles to the south of Cambridge from London Stansted, taking you about 40 minutes. Follow the signs to the M11 and turn on to it going north towards Cambridge (see by road from London).
By Rail
From London: There are frequent trains to and from Cambridge from two of London's main railway stations; London King’s Cross and London Liverpool Street. The faster trains take just under an hour. Cambridge railway station is about 2 miles from the Institute and the easiest way to reach the Institute is by taxi, (costing about £5 to £7). The taxi rank is to the right just outside the station building. The Institute makes regular use of the taxi firm called Panther Taxis.
From the North: Trains from the North towards London change at Peterborough for connections to Cambridge.

By Road
From London: The simplest route is to take the M11 motorway leaving at exit 13 (the third exit marked for Cambridge) and turn right onto the A1303 towards Cambridge (Madingley Road). After 1.1 miles turn right at the traffic lights onto Grange Road and then take the first right onto Clarkson Road.
An alternative route from London: Take the A1 north, leaving the A1(N) motorway section at exit 9 and at the roundabout take the A6141 for Baldock. Take the A505 from Baldock to Royston, staying on the northern bypass of Royston till the A10 north to Cambridge is reached. Just south of Cambridge and north of Harston, join the M11 going north, and follow the instructions as above.
From the North: Take the A1 south, leaving by the A14 sign posted for M11 and Cambridge. Exit from the A14, just before it turns into the M11, by the A1307 into Cambridge. After 2.4 miles (just after the 30mph speed limit signs and just before the Cambridge Lodge Hotel on your right), turn right onto Storey's Way. Follow this round to a T-junction and then turn left onto Madingley Road. Take the first right at the traffic lights onto Grange Road followed by the first right onto Clarkson Road.
Car Hire: The Institute has a special arrangement with Budget Car Hire. Participants should check that insurance cover is adequate for their needs.
Parking: The Institute has a car park at the rear of the building. A car permit is required, which is available from Reception at the Institute.
By Coach
There are coach services to Cambridge from Victoria Coach Station in London about one each hour. There are also services to other cities and all major airports (see above). The Cambridge Bus Station is in Drummer Street, in the centre of Cambridge, just over a mile from the Institute. To reach the Institute from Drummer Street Bus Station, take a taxi, costing about £5-£7.

Accommodation
All participants will be accommodated at Fitzwilliam College located close to the conference venue. All participants will be accommodated in single rooms. Click here to see the location.

Meals
Breakfast and dinner will be served at Fitzwilliam College. No alcohol is served except for at the formal conference dinner. Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:00. Dinner is served from 18:45 to 19:15. Please note that on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 dinner is served from 19:15 to 19:45. Any additional beverages are at the participants' own expense. Lunches will take place at INI.
Your conference badge will allow you to access the canteens.

Non-resident conferees are expected to have all their meals with resident conferees.

The seminar room is equipped with full AV facilities including a data projector, a visualiser, projection screen and chalk boards. Wireless access is also available throughout the Institute using a Lapwing ticket which will be issued to you on arrival.
Please note, speakers are asked to bring their own laptop.
Short talks
There will be no short talks other than those listed on the final programme. The list of abstracts accepted for poster presentation will be available on the conference website.
Posters
Posters can be affixed with velcro tape which will be provided by the venue. The venues asks that no pins are used. The poster should be no bigger than 120cm high by 90cm wide.

Arrival, On-Site Registration & Conference Secretariat |
Upon arrival, participants should register with the Conference Officer, sign the attendance list and collect their name badges. The conference registration desk will be situated in the Wilson Court.
The conference officer will be present until Wednesday 15 September, taking care of the administrative aspects and the day-to-day running of the conference: registration, issuing certificates and receipts, collection travel tickets, etc.
The conference officer will be at the registration desk half an hour each morning before the meeting starts, during coffee breaks, and before and after each afternoon session.
Registration and Payment |
Please confirm your attendance by filling in an online registration form accessible from the conference website.
Conference fees must be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard and Eurocard) via the online registration form by the registration deadline. A 150 EUR supplement is added if full payment has not been received by the registration deadline.
Payments by bank transfer are accepted only in exceptional circumstances and will be subject to a 15 EUR supplement. Contact the Conference Officer for details.
Payments by cash and cheque are not accepted.
Cancellation and Refunds |
Should you need to cancel your participation, please contact the Conference Officer immediately. If notice of cancellation is received more than two weeks before the conference, all but EUR 100 will be reimbursed. No refund is possible if notice of cancellation is received less than two weeks before the conference.
Extra Expenses |
Any expenses not covered by the conference fee (additional nights, beverages, telephone calls, etc.) must be paid directly to the conference venue during your stay.
Travel Contributions |
All reimbursements will be made by post-conference bank transfers. If you have been granted a travel contribution, please provide your bank account details – including IBAN and BIC/SWIFT numbers – in the online registration form.
Photocopies of travel tickets must be returned to the ESF Research Conferences Unit within a maximum of one month after the conference. No reimbursement can otherwise be guaranteed.
Itinerary, price and currency must clearly feature on any ticket. Where no price is indicated on the ticket, the corresponding invoice must be enclosed.
Travel costs may not be higher than:
cheapest economy class air fare
OR second class train fare
OR bus fare from the participant’s place of work to the place of the event or may be the actual cost of travel, whichever is the lower.
The following may NOT be considered as allowable travel costs and therefore may NOT be presented when claiming the travel contribution:
taxi fares (in exceptional cases, taxi fares may be reimbursed)
local travel in the city or locality of the event
costs of health, life and luggage insurance.
Use of a private/rented car is covered either on the basis of a 2nd class return train fare documented by a certified travel agent, or on actual mileage according to the ESF coefficient applicable at the time of travel.
