Statistical physics of glassy and non-equilibrium systems (SPHINX)

More about the Programme

The research objectives are (i) better understanding and quantification of the fundamental statistical physics of glassy and non-equilibrium behaviour of strongly-interacting, often competitive many-body systems, (ii) the development of relevant and applicable mathematical, experimental and simulational techniques and concepts, (iii) fruitful transfer of concepts and techniques between a priori distinct systems (such as disordered magnets, structural glasses, soft-matter systems such as foams and powders, proteins and neural networks and (iv) application and development in many areas of condensed matter physics and several aspects of biophysics, evolution, economics and financial engineering.
