How to submit a Grant Application

Applications must be made through the ESF form on the website.
Do not contact the members ofthe Committee directly about any application.

Normally POLATOM wishes to distribute funds widely and applicants should undesrtand this when considering applying.

No new applications for networking events will be accepted besides the already existing networking plan

Travel grants should not exceed the duration of 3 months

How to submit a grant application?

The POLATOM Programme supports two types of grants: Short Visits & Exchange Grants. 

All applications should be submitted via the online Application forms and using the following guidelines.

It is recommended to preferably upload documents in pdf format.

Priority will be given to applications where the institutions involved are in countries that financially support the programme.

Eligibility :
- undertake work applicable to the Programme;
- apply to stay in a country other than the country of origin;
- return to the institution of origin upon termination.

  • Short visit grants of up to 15 days

 Level of award

Short visit grants are reimbursed on a per diem basis of 85 EUR plus actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR after the visit on submission of a completed balance payment form accompanied by the original travel tickets.  No payment will be made without the scientific report.

Short visit grants applications should contain:

  • A short description of the proposed project work (about 250 words) and the aim of the visit

  • A curriculum vitae of two A4 pages

  • The full address details of the prospective host(s)

  • The proposed starting date

  • The estimated travel costs

Short visit grants Application form

  • Exchange grants, from 15 days to six months renewable

 Level of award

Exchange grants are reimbursed on the basis of an allowance of 1,600 EUR per month / 400 EUR per week / 57 EUR per day plus actual costs for travel, up to a maximum of 500 EUR.

Exchange grants applications should contain:

  • A short description of the proposed project work (about 1000 words) and the aim of the visit

  • A curriculum vitae of two A4 pages

  • The five most recent publications

  • A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the applicant’s work

  • A letter of acceptance from the host at the receiving institute

  • The full address details of the prospective host(s)

  • The proposed starting date

  • The estimated travel costs
