ESF-LEE (formerly LESC) Travel Grants for the Aquaculture Twin Event– Invitation for Applications –

A limited number of travel grants are available from the European Science Foundation, principally aimed at European young researchers, to support their active participation in the Aquaculture Twin Event in Patras, Greece on 11-12 June 2007: www.aquaculture-event.eu .

 

The event is supported by COST, EUREKA and ESF-LEE (formerly LESC). LEE (formerly LESC) is the ESF Standing Committee for Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences.

 

The ESF-LEE (formerly LESC) travel grants will be up to 1000 Euros each.

 

Application procedure

 

Applications should include the following elements:

 

- curriculum vitae (two pages maximum), including a list of 5 recent publications;

- details of the applicant’s institution (full contact details);

- title, authors list and abstract (600 words maximum) of the submitted poster presentation;

- estimated travel and accommodation costs and support requested from ESF;

- short statement (1 page maximum) indicating the scientific motivation and expected benefits of your participation in the Aquaculture Event;

 

Applications should be sent electronically with all documents in one single attachment (word or pdf format) to aqua2007[at]esf.org before Tuesday 15 May 2007, 18:00 (CET).

 

Evaluation procedure

 

The evaluation of applications will be coordinated internally at ESF on the basis of the following criteria and in line with the general ESF policy and mission:

 

a) academic and scientific track records of the applicant;

b) potential value and impact of the ESF support for the applicant.

 

Level of support

 

Travel and accommodation will be refunded on the basis of actual costs (on the basis of APEX-type airfares and 2nd class train travel) up to a maximum of 1000 EUR. The reimbursement will be dealt with after receipt at ESF of the completed ESF Travel Claim Form and all original travel tickets and relevant original receipts.

 

The payment of the grant is subject to the submission of a short scientific report (4 pages maximum) and an official proof of registration and attendance from the event organisers, and to approval of the report by ESF.

 

Reporting requirements

 

The scientific report prepared by the grantee should be submitted by regular mail and electronic mail within 4 weeks of the event (by 10 July 2007 at the latest).
