Professor Sir Roger Jowell, Principal Investigator of the European Social Survey, died on 25th December 2011, following a heart attack, at the age of 69.
We at the European Science Foundation were saddened by the recent news of the untimely passing away of Professor Sir Roger Jowell, co-founder and director of the European Social Survey (ESS), which has received support over the years from the ESF Standing Committee for the Social Sciences (SOC (formerly SCSS)). The ESF Research Networking Programme Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences 2 (QMSS2) launches a call for participants to attend a Summer School in 2012.
It will provide opportunities for junior researchers to undertake high-level training in the latest developments in quantitative methods. It will also enable researchers to interact and share ideas and expertise based upon recent research. [more]

The ESF Research Networking Programme Euro-XPRAG is launching its fourth and last call for proposals for 2011. This 4th call aims to encourage collaborations with Europe-based researchers of Experimental Pragmatics.
