The conference will be held at Hotel Villa del Mare in Acquafredda di Maratea. Acquafredda di Maratea is situated on the coast, on the Gulf of Policastro, between Sapri and Maratea, about 200 km (125 miles) south of Naples and about 400 km (250 miles) south of Rome. Group transportation will be organised on arrival and departure days from and back to Sapri train station.

This conference will focus on the combination and interaction of natural products, drug discovery, synthetic chemistry, and biotransformation. This allows for attractive routes to prepare complex compounds able to mitigate biological processes that may lead to improved treatments for various diseases. The conference will cover the latest advances in our understanding of the importance of natural products within combinatorial chemistry. Related areas such as chemical synthesis technologies and isolation biotechnology will be addressed as well.

Understanding biological mechanisms will lead to more rapid and better-targeted discovery of clinically designed drugs. A complex interplay between all these topics is under development. This integrated meeting will look at the whole field and will be an excellent forum for cross-disciplinary discussions, collaborations and training for young students.

Although the majority of the speakers and attendees will be from the EU, representatives from the US, Japan and South America will also take part.

Abstracts, Posters & Short Oral Contributions

There will be no short talks other than those listed on the final programme. For abstracts that have been accepted as or posters please see the file below.

Posters can be fixed with self-adhesive tape or blu-tack onto poster panels. Recommended poster size is 140 cm high x 100 cm wide. Use letters and drawings that can be read from approximately 100 cm distance.

GROUP TRANSPORTATION

Bus departure times – Saturday 29 August: from 15.00 to 22.45

All major trains arriving in Sapri from Rome/ Naples will be met by bus to transfer you the 8 km to the Hotel. This transfer service will operate free of charge so you are encouraged to take advantage of it. The buses will have a sign in the window indicating “ESF-COST High-Level Research Conferences” for easy recognition.

Group transportation back to Sapri train station will be arranged in a similar way for the departure day.

ACCOMMODATION
Please note that SINGLE accommodation can only be guaranteed to invited speakers. All other participants will have to share a TWIN room. In case single rooms would become available at the time of the conference, rooms will be attributed on a “first come, first served” basis. Only the TWIN conference fee should be paid to the ESF when registering. The supplement for single should be paid to the venue directly. Should you wish to be put on the waiting list for single accommodation, please contact the Ms Zuzana Vercinska.

All participants - including speakers & session chairs - are kindly expected to confirm their attendance (and, when applicable, to pay the conference fee) by filling in a Registration Form.

What conference fee covers

Basic expenses comprise:

• registration and meeting costs;
• accommodation in twin room sharing with another participant;
  
• all meals, coffee breaks and drinks included;
  
• participation at the excursion and the conference dinner;
  
• group transportation from/to the Sapri train station.

Cancellation:

Should you need to cancel your participation, please contact the Conference Officer immediately. If notice of cancellation is received more than two weeks before the conference, all but EUR 100 will be reimbursed. No refund is possible if notice of cancellation is received less than two weeks before the conference.
