During the last decade, the scientific and political landscape of marine biotechnology has been deeply modified. Despite significant achievements, marine biotechnology is not contributing to its full potential in answering the numerous challenges European countries are facing now with the present global crisis. How marine biotechnology can contribute to these challenges is therefore an even more relevant question nowadays than ten years ago.
The Marine Board-ESF and COST are organizing a conference to promote scientific excellence in marine biotechnology by providing leading scientists and young researchers with a platform to present their work, to discuss current scientific understanding and recent developments in key areas of marine biotechnology, and to identify the priorities for further research and infrastructure. All participants - including speakers, chairs & session chairs - are kindly expected to confirm their attendance (and, when applicable, to pay the conference fee) by filling in a registration form.

Conference fees cover an all inclusive package which includes all basic expenses that occur during the event. For more details, click here.

Grants are available for students and early stage researchers to cover the conference fee and possibly part of the travel costs. Grants are distributed based on financial need and scientific merit. Grantees must attend the entire conference in order to benefit from the grant.
Grant requests should be made by ticking appropriate field(s) in the paragraph "Grant application" of the application form.
7 EUR of this fee is used to make this conference more ecologically sustainable. This amount will allow us to offset almost 100% of the CO2 emissions created by this conference and are part of our efforts to make ESF Research Conferences greener. For more information, please click here.

The increasing interdependence of marine research policies and programmes at national and at European levels, as well as the rapidly changing environment of European marine sciences, call for a new approach to the development of European research strategies. To this end, the ESF Marine Board, established in 1995 by its Member Organisations, to facilitate enhanced coordination between the directors of European marine science organisations (research institutes, funding agencies and research councils) and the development of strategies for marine science in Europe.
