Understanding the frequency and magnitude of extreme environmental events and their impacts is a critical aspect of climate prediction. This conference aims to bring together an inter-disciplinary group including statisticians, climate modellers, meteorologists, and other environmental scientists to focus on extreme events and the uncertainties inherent in their understanding.
Sessions will include:
- extreme events and statistical methodology;
- modelling of extreme environmental events;
- impacts of extreme events.

Practical Information |
The conference will be held at the Selwyn College in Cambridge, the renown university town and administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 80 km (50 miles) north-by-east of London.
Selwyn College was founded in 1882 in memory of Bishop Selwyn. He was a Cambridge graduate who rowed in the first ever University Boat Race. Although the foundation of the College initially gave it a link with the Anglican Church, for over 40 years its membership has been open to those of all faiths, or none.
