ESF Research Conferences

ESF-COST High-Level Research Conference

Extreme Environmental Events

13-17 December 2010

Conference Venue

Selwyn College, Cambridge, UK

The conference will be held at the Selwyn College in Cambridge, the renown university town and administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 50 miles (80 km) north-by-east of London.

Selwyn College was founded in 1882 in memory of Bishop Selwyn. He was a Cambridge graduate who rowed in the first ever University Boat Race. Although the foundation of the College initially gave it a link with the Anglican Church, for over 40 years its membership has been open to those of all faiths, or none. It continues to look to the needs of present-day society and, for example, it was one of the first five colleges in Cambridge to admit both men and women into membership. Today, Selwyn is a medium-sized College of the University with about 360 undergraduates, 120 postgraduates, and 50 teaching Fellows.

Beginning of the conference: 13 December, 15:30
End of the conference: 17 December, 14:00
