The European Meteorological Society (EMS)provides a forum for disseminating information and facilitating discussions on themes and issues connected with meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, earth observation and the climate system. Read more...
The project ChArMEx (Chemistry-Aerosol Mediterranean Experiment) aims at a scientific assessment of the present and future state of the atmospheric environment and of its impacts in the Mediterranean basin (NB: the generic term "chemistry" used hereafter implicitly concerns gaseous reactive species and aerosol particles). ChArMEx is one of the sister projects of the new regional multidisciplinary initiative “MISTRALS” from INSU and the federation of French Agencies ALLENVI, which aims at an understanding of the future of the Mediterranean region in a context of strong regional anthropogenic and climatic pressures. HyMeX (HYdrological cycle in the Mediterranean EXperiment)aims at a better understanding and quantification of the hydrological cycle and related processes in the Mediterranean, with emphasis on high-impact weather events, inter-annual to decadal variability of the Mediterranean coupled system, and associated trends in the context of global change. The French community working in marine biogeochemistry and biological ecosystems is currently structured to initiate the MERMEX project (Marine Ecosystems Response in the Mediterranean Experiment). This programme led by the ‘Institut National des Sciences de l’Univers (INSU)’ will be associated to other programmes related to the study of the hydrological cycle (HyMeX) and atmospheric chemistry (ChArMEx) in the Mediterranean basin. MERMEX aims to deepen the current understanding of the Mediterranean marine ecosystems to better anticipate their upcoming evolution. Learn more...
