8 - 13 August 2011
Universitätszentrum Obergurgl, Obergurgl, Austria
Chaired by:
Prof. Tibor Dunai, Universität zu Köln, DE
Prof. Didier Bourles, CEREGE, Aix-en-Provence, FR
Programme |
The scientific scope of the conference are the cosmogenic nuclides
(CN) used in Earth Sciences; whether produced in-situ in rocks or produced in the atmosphere. It will cover the methodology and application of currently used in-situ produced CNs (3He, 10Be, 14C, 21Ne, 26Al, 36Cl, 53Mn); and CNs produced in the atmosphere (atmospheric CNs) that are preserved in ice and sedimentary records (10Be, 14C, 36Cl, 129I). Radiocarbon dating, utilizing decay of atmospheric cosmogenic 14C in organic matter or dissolved carbon dioxide in water, won’t be sought as core topic. This is because Radiocarbon dating has already established, dedicated research conferences; and issues in its methodology are, while being in principle related to the other CNs, often different in scientific practice.
