The European Science Foundation (ESF) and the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck (LFUI), have agreed to co-sponsor a series of Scientific Conferences, within the framework of the ESF Research Conferences Scheme. The Series will be known as ESF-LFUI Conferences, and will be at the highest scientific level with respect to topics and choice of participants.
The Conferences will bring together participants and experts in the areas of Physics/Biophysics and Environmental Sciences to discuss topics that are of major importance to the scientific community in Europe. Conferences will take place at the Universitätszentrum Obergurgl, Tirol, Austria.

The Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck was founded in 1669 with a faculty of philosophy. Today with 15 faculties, 3300 employees and 20 000 students the LFUI is one of the three major full universities in Austria. As part of the new University Law 2002 the university’s legal capacity was largely expanded securing autonomy in personel, finance and organization. The LFUI considers itself a research based and research oriented university adhering to the highest teaching standards possible.
