Assessment of the Impacts of Genetically Modified Plants (AIGM)

Conference on Introgression of Genetically Modified Plants (GMP) into wild relatives and its consequences

To be held on 21-24 January 2003, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

This conference aims at reviewing current knowledge on gene flow and introgression, and discussing the research and monitoring information required to determine the consequences of introgression of novel genes on plant and crop ecosystems.

Scientific programme

• HYBRIDISATION IN CROP-WILD RELATIVE COMPLEXES: THE BASE LINE

• GENE FLOW: INTROGRESSION AND ADOPTION OF GENES

• IMPACTS AND CONSEQUENCES OF NOVEL TRAITS

• MONITORING: DETERMINING ENDPOINT PARAMETERS

• DISCUSSION FORUM

There will be a strong selection of some 30 well known specialist-invited speakers to deliver state of the art talks on each of the above topics, serving as a basis for the discussions involving all participants. In addition, participants are invited to submit scientific poster contributions.
