The aim of this network is to clarify the notion of scientific heritage and to find the most appropriate means for its enhancement. This topic has received little attention and both historians of science and museum curators have mostly dealt with limited segments of this crucial research area. Collections of instruments, minerals, natural specimens and manuscripts represent the receptacle of a renewed interdisciplinary approach towards scientific heritage. The network will offer a unique opportunity to compare different European and experiences and will provide the theoretical as well as institutional conditions for an interdisciplinary collaborative research program.
