Alpine Biodiversity (ALPNET)

More about the Network

The ESF launched a Scientific Network on Alpine Biodiversity (ALPNET) in July 1997 for a period of three years. During this three-year period, ALPNET, under the chairmanship of Professor Georg Grabherr (Universität Wien, Institut für Pflanzenphysiologie, Austria), aimed to bring together researchers working on alpine biodiversity in Europe to share data and knowledge. Three workshops were held, and ultimately a book is to be produced.

Activities

Following the final ALPNET workshop in Cargese, Corsica in November 2000, a publication is in preparation.

Network management

Co-ordination Committee chaired by Professor Georg Grabherr (Institut für Pflanzenphysiologie, Universität Wien).

Administrative support has been generously provided by McConnell Associates, Edinburgh, by offering the services of the ALPNET Co-ordinator, Dr. Laszlo Nagy.

Erratum: the Network has acknowledged administrative support provided by the Centro di Ecologia Alpine, Viote del Monte Bondone (TN), Italy.  Although this support was initially offered, the offer was withdrawn early in the Network.
