Summary
The rapid and historically unique social transformations currently underway in Eastern Europe are already the subjects of much research. This Network does not intend to add to the mass of work already in progress, but to create a structure in which questions, theories, methods of observation, and results can be confronted and compared. A particular aim is to foster close collaboration between researchers in Western and Eastern Europe.
