FoNE was a EUROCORES programme focusing on fundamental nanoscale phenomena affecting electron transport. These included:
- Quantum transport, noise and correlations in quantum dots wires and other novel structures;
- Molecular-scale electronicsand atomic contacts;
- Nanoscale spin dependent transport and control;
- Proximity effects and hybrid nanostructures.
The research carried out underpinned many areas of nanoelectronics and helped to create the necessary knowledge for a society in which microelectronics is gradually replaced by nanoelectronics.
