Call for Proposals

How proposals are assessed

An independent Review Panel formed of leading scientists in the field, with a mandate from the funding agencies, oversaw the scientific assessment of proposals in the Programme. The outline proposals to proceed to the full application stage have been selected by the Review Panel. Full proposals were internationally peer-reviewed. Referees were selected by the ESF from suggestions by the Review Panel based on a pool of international scientists whose names had been provided by the participating national funding agencies. Based on the results of refereeing, the Panel recommended and prioritised the best applications for funding by the national funding agencies of the selected applicants. Click here to view the membership of the Review Panel. The list of referees has been published after the selection process.

Funding of the proposals recommended by the Review Panel depend on the total amount of money made available in each country by the national funding agencies supporting the Programme. The use of funds in a project is subject to the rules of each national funding agency supporting that project as well as to the national laws of those countries.

Following agreement with funding bodies from, the European Science Foundation launched a first Call for Proposals (16/04/02) for research projects to be undertaken within the EUROCORES programme on Self-Organised Nano-Structures (SONS). The programme includes national research funding and a European networking component. Proposals for Collaborative Research Projects were sought.

The deadline for receipt of Outline Proposals was 31 May 2002. Although the Call is now closed, it is still available for information purposes, click here.
